To me and most of us, Chicken 65 has lingered on permanently in our taste buds (And for a fact has become an integral part of our cherished gastronomic love)

Ok, now why am I emphasizing on this so much on a biryani post here? Because the original founders of the ICONIC CHICKEN 65 are none other than the “Buharis”. (THANK YOU…with happy tears in eyes) The Buhari hotel at Anna Salai established in the year 1951 deserves the whole credit for the Creation.

While Chennaites still associate this restaurant with its iconic biryani, it’s the Chicken 65 that makes Buhari show up on Google searches the world over.

To quickly trace back to history, this restaurant was set up first at Colombo. * Hotel De Buhari in Colombo – It was there, the brand’s eponymous dish was introduced. Thanks to the founder, Mr. AM. Buhari, who has his roots from Tirunelveli, he brought the fragrant biryani from Colombo back to his birthplace – Our India. Even the idea of embedding a boiled egg into the long strands of rice in the biryani started here 😛

Back to the Biriyani basics, Am writing this post soon after lavishly finishing my Buhari Chicken Mughalai Biryani at Velachery.

Mughalai biryani has its own quotient of richness, taste, flavour and sumptuousness. The standards have a tad bit reduced though (Considering the ones I used to have at Buhari 5 years ago), It Would be great if the original taste is brought back.

Nevertheless, this biryani is rich to taste primarily because it has the yummy CHICKEN 65 boneless pieces stuffed into it (around 5 to 6 in number if you are lucky or a regular customer) and garnished with subtle spices and scrambled egg. It would cost at a rate of 243 and it is a perfect one dish meal that comes with the guarantee of filling your tummy and your heart alike! (Earlier rice quantity was so much, now I don’t know with GST that has also reduced I believe). Please take care Buhari Bhaiyas..! 🙂

Chief Recommendations – Please try @ the original Mount Road Buhari, the taste is still retained here. Mutton biriyani is quite famous too, but be it inside or as a side, chicken 65 is a must as it takes the taste notch up to greater levels.

Reading Time: 3 minutes“Anna.
