When Biryani is given the ROYAL treatment in all sense !!
The above line is a perfect attribution to the BEHROUZ Biryani. The packaging in itself is alluringly royal – a big box which looks like it is sent direct from the Nizam’s Palace Kitchen. When you can’t control the urge and open it, you are treated with a grand welcome story, which uncovers like this..,
A 2000 YEAR OLD RECIPE REDISCOVERED
On a hot day, after miles of digging in the erstwhile region of Persia, Archeologists chanced upon a trail that led to an important unearthing: An entire city lay in ruins; remnants of what used to be the city of “Behrouz”.
The kingdom gained popularity owing to its recipe for layered rice which was served to the kings and mass alike on festivities- A dish that is now known as Biryani.”
Many moons later Dr.James Casily along with his team of archeologists dug out a parchment. A parchment containing the ancient recipe of Behrouz biryani was rediscovered, FINALLY !

Enough excitement built after reading the story and now am all set for digging into our royalty, I find a smaller box of Murgh Biryani (To be precise, it is LAZEEZ BHUNA MURGH BIRYANI BONELESS” which was tagged best seller in the Swiggy App), a gulab Jamoon ( Oh yeah !! ) and a mintish raita neatly packed. (By the way, Behrouz Biryani is an online ordering service only)
As soon as you open the small box of biryani inside the bigger box, the hyderabadi smell hits you right at the nostril 😉 The biryani is neatly garnished with chopped almonds, other indispensable spices like the cinnamon, cardamom, cloves etc, and has a great tempting color.
Taste wise, it demonstrates the solid authentic hyderabadi dum biryani taste. The Boneless chicken pieces were succulent, though were less in number :/ The mint chutney and Murgh gravy alongside was unique in taste and complimented fine with the biryani.
After satisfying the craving of the Behrouz biryani ( Which has been going all rounds in India successfully since its inception) I was just curious to check more on the same. Having not thrown the beautiful packaged box, I noticed a QR code on the inside of it. Scanned the QR and it took me direct to their website, which is equally royal and rich. Turned out the story that we read in the beginning is a fictitious one, nevertheless, what a brilliant branding, Behrouz biryani has built around it. The story page of their site is too good, with 46 chapters and fascinating sketches of the BEHROUZ BIRYANI STORY. (A definite READ!!!) Thoroughly impressed by the way they have built the site and the brand.
The man behind Behrouz Biryani is Mr.Jaydeep Barman, who also happens to be the founder of the popular FAASOS online food ordering platform. On the positioning aspect, Mr.Barman says, he aspired to make Biryani – The pizza of India – If dominos could build a global market for pizza, why can’t Faasos do the same with the biryani, “He gritfully explains to the brand equity economic times.
Behrouz which means prosperity in Persian has struck the right note on the Indian customers – Kudos to the brand positioning and building strategy by Faasos! This biryani is also claimed to be made with unprocessed spices, best quality basmati rice and without using any artificial fat, thus retaining a great taste.
Barman adds that , “Biriyani is a mix of art, science and Passion”, he recalls how the spice and rice were selected, measured right and how he even roped a dairy manufacturer to make a particular brand of pure ghee at scale just for the biryani. With all these passionate efforts coupled with great marketing strategies, Behrouz biryani brand is all set to clock greater heights to become the Indian brand bearing splendid testimony to the royal dish.
A royal experience for sure, for all those biriyani lovers !! 🙂
