Chennai Biryanis

That Biriyani Place at Anna Nagar

Reading Time: 3 minutes

When that 3 magical words were told, “Biriyani sapdalama macha?”, the drooling process started internally and externally my legs rushed to find out some quick outlets in & around Anna Nagar to grab some biriyani for the noon.

Was lucky to spot an yellow board just as I was heading towards the 6th avenue Anna Nagar side. Again another 3 magical words popped up on the board, “That Biriyani Place”.

The place looked warm and welcoming with all yellow painted boards, yellow cards and yellow dressed staffs. And thankfully I made a perfect decision to grab one biriyani from there.

Reaching back home, I started taking the Biriyani and gravy parcel one by one from the paper cover. It was a chicken biriyani combo that was ordered and It’s a take away Joint only.

The first thing that immediately was eye-catching was the unique way of packaging they had done. There were bamboo containers or you could call it “Paaku Matta” and aluminium foil lids for every sides, the raita, brinjal chutney and the gravy. (Have to mention there was a spoon, tissues, a quick mint and a water bottle as well neatly packed alongside)

Removing all the lids one by one, and there goes the fresh and hot biriyani sight..!! It was a treat to watch mainly because of the packaging that’s done. (A chicken biriyani combo would have these 4 items priced at Rs.200 – 1. Chicken Biryani 2. Kozhi Varutha Masala 3. Bottled Mineral Water 4. Condiments Pack )

Coming to the taste part, this biriyani has a rich flavor and fragrance and as you stuff it into the mouth, you get a real nice feeling of the basmati rice layered with well fried onions and spices, ghee and coriander scents.

Chicken pieces inside the biriyani are okayish, but the best part is the Kozhi Varutha Masala that they give along with the combo..

This Kozhi Varutha Masala is a sure hit, as it tastes super delicious – It is a dish of chicken chunks, cooked with an aromatic gravy. Topped with coriander and curry leaves in a spiced curry sauce.

Quantity wise, it is totally sufficient, if not more for one person. There is also a mutton biriyani and combo which is a crowd favorite.

Overall, this nice little take away joint is one of the coolest spots at Anna Nagar for all the biriyani lovers.

Go for the rich flavoured basmati biriyani and the Kozhi Varutha Masala…(And of-course the aesthetic packaging 😉
